Overview

Tractor transmissions work in dust, mud and 40 °C heat, often at part load with shock loads from implements. Failures are usually bending fatigue or abrasive wear rather than pitting.

• 20CrMnTi with a 0.9–1.3 mm case resists abrasive wear in dusty duty.
• Root fillet radius is increased about 15% over standard practice for shock loads.
• VCI film and sealed export packing protect machined flanks during sea freight.
